Dance Academy

Level 1:

Level 1 is for beginners in jazz, tap, and ballet. Instruction at this level will focus on introducing the very basic positions, steps, and technique in the given dance class. Instructors will use fun movement activities, games, musicality and rhythm paired with instruction that is focused on building the foundation needed to learn and be successful in dance.

Level 2:

Level 2 begins to focus on proper technique and dance knowledge. In this level we begin the more typically structured dance class and work on turnout, flexibility, proper foot placement, etc. Students at this level will expand on their dance knowledge including terminology.

Level 3:

This level is for more experienced dancers who have the foundation of dance already. This level continues to focus on proper technique while increasing strength and skill.

Level 4:

Level 4 is for advanced dancers who are looking to continue learning and practicing advanced technique.

Advanced dancers who are on pointe or soon to be on pointe can be approved to take this class. Pointe class can be taken on flat or in pointe shoes at the instructor’s discretion. All pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles.

Hip Hop:

Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.

Musical Theater Dance:

This unique dance class is great for both dancers and theater performers. Musical Theater Dance uses musical theater songs and steps and combines acting with dance. We focus on the token musical theater dance steps and break them down to form proper technique so that the skills learned in this class could be easily transferred into musical theater choreography.
